A 4-ton lithium-ion battery forklift has been customized and assembled, specifically developed for high-intensity, continuous operation scenarios for Australian end-users. The entire vehicle was configured around three main principles: reliable range, precise control, and multi-functionality. Core components are sourced from leading industry brands, and the vehicle is currently in the delivery preparation phase.
The powertrain is the centerpiece of this build.
Battery — 80V / 205AH lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄) pack. Compared with traditional lead-acid batteries, the LiFePO₄ solution delivers three decisive advantages:
| Advantage | LiFePO₄ (This Build) | Lead-Acid (Conventional) |
|---|---|---|
| Cycle life | 3,000+ cycles | ~1,200 cycles |
| Full-shift runtime | Single charge | Requires mid-shift swap |
| Maintenance | Zero (sealed) | Regular watering & equalizing |
| Emissions | None (suitable for food/pharma) | Acid mist during charging |
Controller — Megmeet AC controller. Megmeet is a leading Chinese industrial automation brand. Its forklift drive system features mature vector control algorithms, a wide speed-regulation band, and built-in fault self-diagnostics. Under heavy-load lifting, hydraulic motor response is immediate and jerk-free; acceleration curves are smooth across the full speed range.
Charger — 100A fast charger, 380V three-phase industrial input. High-current charging allows rapid top-ups during lunch breaks or shift changes, minimizing equipment downtime in high-throughput logistics nodes.
Mast tilt angle is set at 6° forward and 9° backward — the industry-standard combination for 4-ton forklifts balancing maneuverability with load stability.
| Tilt Direction | Angle | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Forward | 6° | Enables smooth fork entry under ground-level pallets; reduces pallet base scraping |
| Backward | 9° | Provides rearward load support during laden travel and stacking; prevents forward load shift at height |
All tires are high-elasticity solid tires. Solid tires are irreplaceable in two categories of operating environments:
| Risk Factor | Solid Tires | Pneumatic Tires |
|---|---|---|
| Sharp debris (metal chips, glass, pallet nails) | Puncture-proof | High puncture risk → downtime |
| Heavy-load, frequent start/stop | Superior abrasion resistance | Prone to deformation under sustained load |
Many Australian warehouses and manufacturing sites combine both risk factors, making solid tires a logical choice that lowers customers' hidden maintenance costs.
Side-Shift Fork Positioner — allows the operator to hydraulically adjust fork spacing from the driver's seat. Traditional pallet-type changes require the operator to dismount and manually reposition forks, typically taking 1–2 minutes each time. With a fork positioner, the switch is completed in seconds.
Integrated electronic scale — load cells are embedded in the fork carriage, delivering weight readings the moment the load is lifted. Accuracy meets general trade settlement and warehouse management requirements.
| Without Scale | With Integrated Scale |
|---|---|
| Forklift → weighbridge → forklift | Lift → weigh → go |
| Two handling cycles per load | One handling cycle |
| ~30% more processing time per consignment | Zero extra handling |
This is particularly valuable for logistics centers charging by weight, load-balancing operations, and inbound goods verification.
| Requirement | How This Build Addresses It |
|---|---|
| Indoor emissions regulations | Zero tailpipe emissions (Li-ion) |
| Electrical safety standards | 80V platform with insulation monitoring and leakage protection |
| High equipment utilization (cost of labor) | Large battery capacity + fast charging for multi-shift operation |
| Attachment flexibility | ISO-standard interfaces for side-shift positioner and scale; future-proof for swaps |
At HZZG, we build forklifts around the job site — not the other way around. Every configuration choice on this 4-ton lithium unit, from battery capacity to attachment pairing, was driven by a real analysis of how Australian end-users work, day in and day out.
