2.5 tons is one of the densest payload bands in warehousing, cold chain, building materials and manufacturing logistics. It has to work alongside 3.5-ton operations above it, while keeping enough manoeuvring room for narrow aisles below it. Buyers in this band tend to be more sensitive to whether a truck can run a full shift than to any single peak figure.
The 2.5-ton lithium forklift released here is designed around that duty pattern. Rather than targeting a headline number in one category, it is built to hold steady output from the powertrain, hydraulic system, electrical control and cooling system through the high-cycle routine of a normal shift.
For buyers who have already made lithium their standard choice, the question has moved from "will it work" to "will every shift deliver what it promised". That is why this release leads with the whole-lifecycle battery program rather than a specification table.
Performance in low temperatures has long been the main objection raised by customers in cold storage, cold chain and high-latitude markets when considering electrification. On this 2.5-ton model, battery charging and heating functions are standard equipment: at -30°C the pack can be brought up to operating temperature through charging and heating, putting the truck in a condition to start normally.
For operations that need a truck ready on demand after long idle periods, a parking discharge and heating function is offered as an option. The pack continues to discharge and maintain its own temperature while parked, so the machine starts whenever the operator arrives. The trade-off is continuous power consumption while parked, which makes the option best suited to short idle intervals and frequent starts; for vehicles parked for extended periods, the standard charging and heating path remains the practical choice. Selecting configuration from the duty cycle rather than from a single headline claim is what keeps the operating cost predictable.
Running alongside cold capability is rain-condition durability: all wiring throughout the truck uses waterproof connectors, so open-yard and wet-weather operation does not stop on a water-ingressed plug.
The battery is always the largest uncertainty in a lithium forklift's total cost of ownership. This release states a 7-year battery warranty; where damage is assessed as non-human-caused, replacement is delivered free to the customer's door, with customs clearance covered as part of the process.
The value of that term is not the number of years. It is the change in who carries the risk. Cross-border buyers no longer need to reserve a hidden budget covering freight, duty and brokerage for a battery failure several years out, nor do they need to locate a third party with lithium service capability in their own market. For buyers acquiring fleets, or operating across several countries, this variable influences the purchase decision more directly than unit price.
Each truck ships with a complimentary international data SIM card, allowing the battery manufacturer to read battery condition through its back-end system.
The significance lies in moving battery health from an operator's description to remotely readable data. For fleet managers, degradation and abnormal charge-discharge behaviour surface earlier. For buyers planning resale or rental operations, the pack carries a verifiable service record, and residual value is no longer assessed on experience alone.
In many overseas markets the real obstacle to electric forklift adoption is not the truck but the power supply. Local socket standards, supply voltage, charging bay construction and permits often consume more time than the equipment itself.
Two features in this release address that directly: every forklift is supplied with its own independent charging station, and the charger carries its own socket for direct connection to the mains. No additional adapter or local matching is required, removing the risk of a machine standing idle on arrival because a plug does not fit. The charger takes a 380V input, suited to industrial supply.
The truck also includes a standard operator-presence system: once the driver leaves the seat, the machine cannot continue operating, reducing the risk of unintended movement on an unattended truck.
Beyond the battery and its service program, details on the hydraulic and electrical control sides of this model point to the same objective — continuous duty.
Hydraulics
Dynamic load-sensing hydraulic steering circuit supplies oil according to actual demand, cutting wasted power and improving overall lifting efficiency and energy consumption.
A lift potentiometer has been added to the multi-way valve lift control, making raising and lowering smoother, more linear and more energy-efficient.
Combined electronic and hydraulic overload protection safeguards cylinders and the hydraulic system under overload conditions, reducing the risk of failure in extreme working cycles.
Electrical control
Electrical control components use thickened heat-sink aluminium plates with a forced-air cooling system, addressing temperature rise during high-frequency, continuous duty and sustaining the truck's continuous operating capability.
Motor and electronic control are closely matched, with regenerative braking, reverse braking and ramp anti-rollback functions for safe, reliable operation on loaded gradients.
Lithium battery forklifts are no longer confined to a single duty type. In the 2.5-ton band, three applications account for the majority of actual purchases:
Warehousing and distribution centres: the densest application area for lithium forklifts. Work is dominated by pallet handling, racking in and out, and dock loading, with short travel distances and frequent stops and starts. Inside an enclosed warehouse there are no exhaust emissions and no need for dedicated ventilation or fuelling areas, and the pack can be topped up during breaks between shifts.
Cold chain and low-temperature warehousing: from chilled stores to deep-freeze facilities, trucks stay in low temperatures for long periods and move frequently between zones with sharply different temperatures. This application places real demands on low-temperature charge and discharge capability, and on how the mast and hydraulic system respond in the cold.
Manufacturing plants and line-side feeding: built around just-in-time delivery, trucks run repeated cycles on fixed routes at a fixed takt. Equipment availability here is directly equivalent to production line stoppage risk, which also makes it the application where the gain from replacing an IC engine with lithium is easiest to quantify.
These three applications share one characteristic: the forklift is the metronome of the production and logistics chain. When it stops, the loss is not the cost of a repair but the waiting time of the entire chain. That is why, in the mid-tonnage lithium forklift segment, buyers compare not specification levels but how many hours of the year the truck is genuinely available.
Qingdao Taijin Machinery Co., Ltd. provides configuration and engineering customization for lithium forklifts based on ambient temperature, aisle width, load centre and shift patterns.
